h2>Tour to the archaeological park of Herculaneum departing from the island of Ischia
The archaeological site is famous throughout the world as it provides an extraordinary example of ancient Roman life.
Located in the shadow of Vesuvius, Herculaneum was an ancient Roman city that was destroyed by pyroclastic flows in 79 AD.
A UNESCO heritage site, it is one of the few ancient cities that still retains its original splendor today and joins Pompeii, Stabia, Oplontis and Boscoreale which disappeared from the volcanic eruption. Vesuvius who buried him in 79 AD.
Unlike Pompeii, the deep pyroclastic material that covers it has preserved wooden and other organic objects such as roofs, beds, doors, food and even around 300 skeletons found near the sea in recent years. Until then it was thought that the city’s residents had been evacuated. Herculaneum was a richer city than Pompeii, with an extremely high density of beautiful houses, and the use of colored marble cladding, for example, was even more elaborate.
