Guided tour of the Aragonese Castle

The Aragonese Castle is the symbol of Ischia, located on an islet to the east of the island and is connected with a 220 meter long masonry bridge to the ancient village of Ischia Ponte. It is accessed through a tunnel dug into the rock and illuminated by skylights which connects to a mule track that leads to the top of the islet. From here other streets with various routes lead to the various buildings and gardens that are part of the castle. The main points of interest of the visit are: the church of the Immaculate Conception, the convent and cemetery of the Poor Clares, the cathedral of the Assumption with crypt, the church of S.Pietro a Pantaniello, the church of S.Maria delle Grazie, the political prisons, the panoramic terrace of olive trees, the vegetable gardens and vineyards. All while enjoying a breathtaking view from 113 meters above sea level.
